About the Position: Fort Cavazos rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio.

Duties

Help
  • Identify, label, and dispose of hazardous materials and waste properly.
  • Maintain continuous compliance with Federal, State, and local regulatory guidance.
  • Operate motor vehicles up to and including 26,000 pounds (11 Tons).
  • Serve as technical point of contact on hazardous materials and hazardous waste management as they pertain to cleaning solvent.
  • Conduct both formal and informal inspections and investigations of specific incidents of ongoing operations, relative to compliance with emphasis on parts washer and solvent use standards.
  • Prepare formal reports of findings and recommend corrective action for submittal through the chain of command to supervisor, if necessary.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of an environmental education and training program for activity personnel.

  • The incumbent must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain hazmat and tanker endorsement within 12 months of Entry On Duty.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes transporting Hazmat, petroleum, oils, and/or lubricants. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Selective Placement Factor: This position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
