The United States Space Force (USSF) at the Peterson Space Force Base is searching for a Narrowband SATCOM Data Analyst/Project Manager for Delta 8 (NH-0391-03, GS-12/13 equivalent).

Description:
Come work for the US Space Force, Space Operations Command Delta 8. The incumbent serves as Narrowband SATCOM Telecommunications Specialist on the Narrowband Consolidated SATCOM System Expert (NB C-SSE) Engineering Team, responsible for large-scale and other complex or labor-intensive projects involving major Narrowband MILSATCOM (MUOS, UFO, etc.) and related network/information systems. Drives integration of networking capability and SATCOM resources to deliver capability to warfighters. This includes developing technical solutions, collaborating with the MUOS Program Office and terminal program offices, developing ops concepts, SOPs, TTPs, etc. Also supports NB C-SSE situational awareness efforts, anomaly support, as well as data and tools integration.

Provides guidance and assistance through products and community of interest interaction. Supports narrowband forums focusing on system and operational capability issues and deficiencies ensuring all issues are adequately addressed in support of the warfighter and NB C-SSE operational management.

Provides assessments of requirements, definitions and prioritization of work for refinement of NB tools; including Modeling and Simulation Tools, Enhanced Monitoring System, MUOS Geolocation (GEO), MUOS Situational Awareness, and Planning/Provisioning systems and planned/enhanced tools.

Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in satellite communications and data analytics: Experience as a Telecommunications Specialist or equivalent experience
- Well-rounded experience in SATCOM Systems and Network architecture
- Strong problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail

The ideal candidate will possess experience with independent judgement in determining the nature, scope, and priority of work efforts to accomplish assigned missions and functions, and ability to make authoritative technical decisions or resolve most problems that may arise. Additionally, the ability to keep supervisor informed of progress and address potentially controversial issues, especially those with major program and/or operational impact is desired. The ideal candidate will have a firm understanding of the command and control structure supporting Narrowband Satellite Communications which includes USSPACECOM, USSF, Navy, CCMDs, DISA, and Services roles in Narrowband and associated policies applicable to Narrowband SATCOM operations. The candidate should also have a firm grasp on technologies associated with Narrowband SATCOM.


Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Expert technical knowledge of satellite payload management, network management, and telecommunications systems.
2. Expert knowledge of policies, plans, objectives, requirements, and capabilities of SATCOM systems.
3. Experience in conducting studies involving both long-range and short-range plans involving the control aspect of satellite communications.
4. Skill in performing data/trend analyses for SATCOM terminals and satellite segments to determine technical supportability.
5. Ability to analyze technical aspects of satellite payloads and ground station architectures.
6. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including writing plans and technical documents, requirements, procedures, and technical analyses.
7. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes.
8. Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI clearance.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
  • PCS funding may be authorized.
  • Position is not eligible for telework.
  • Position will close in 7 business days or 75 applications (whichever comes first).
  • Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 50 days per year.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
