As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC LEADER, WL-8852-10, you will lead three or more subordinates.In addition, performs journey level duties involving maintenance and repair ofaircraft components such as wheels, tires, flight controls, canopies, and landinggear, both on and off aircraft systems. Also performs general heavy airframemaintenance beyond capability of other maintenance shops, as well as recoveryand reclamation of damaged equipment, or crashed aircraft. This position is located in an Air National Guard Flying Wing, Logistics Directorate,Aircraft Maintenance Division, Accessories Element, Repair and ReclamationShop.
DUTIES:
(1) On a regular and recurring basis, leads three or more aircraft mechanicsubordinates in performing all phases of repair and reclamation on aircraftsystems and equipment, utilizing lifting bags, cranes, hoists, slings, forklifts, andother heavy equipment.
(2) Monitors work of assigned personnel, sets the work pace, conveys workassignments, and assures that materials, tools, equipment, and stock areavailable. Coordinates and works with aircraft mechanics, and performs journeylevel work as required.
(3) Assures that assigned personnel are fully utilized and work is accomplished inaccordance with established time frames and priorities. Checks work in progressand/or upon completion for compliance with the supervisor's instructions,appropriate technical orders, etc. Serves as a technical advisor by answeringquestions regarding appropriate procedures, policies, written instructions, andother directives. Assures that safety, housekeeping, security, and otherenvironmental rules are followed.
(4) Advises the supervisor of overall work operations, status and progress of work,causes for delays, problems encountered, and individual performance (e.g.,additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees). Asrequested by the supervisor, provides functional planning for the inspection docks.On a daily basis, recommends adjustments in work schedules to provide optimumutilization of personnel in support of functional requirements.
(5) Performs other duties as assigned.
Military Grades: E1-E7
Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
