Duties

As an Archives Technician, you will:

  • Remove records from system which do not have matching or correct labels.
  • Keep records in registry number sequence, places records in appropriate carton, writes the registry number appearing on the first folder in clear bold print on the front of each carton, transports, and properly shelves cartons.
  • Prepare and key mail for delivery by USPS tracked mail, UPS tracked mail, USPS first class mail or other delivery carriers as required.
  • Process, keys and labels keypunched records with computer prepared labels. Ensure records manifested are received and appropriate billed agency is noted. Key data into ARCIS ensuring all data keyed matches folder. Match labels and process records, check for discrepancies in name and service number or Social Security number; and affix labels to folders or jackets.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.   • This position requires candidates to pass a physical abilities test designed to measure candidates' ability to perform the physical requirements of the job. The test requires carrying 30-50 pound boxes like those found on the job. It also requires bending, squatting, and walking to reach the boxes in addition to climbing and balancing on a pulpit ladder up to 15 feet high.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

  • You must have one year of general experience which includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
OR
  • 2 years of education above high school.

  • Combination of general experience and education.
