Manage the Campbell Creek Science Center which engages all learners in outdoor experiences that increase appreciation, connection, and stewardship of Alaska’s public lands and natural and cultural resources.
Provide in-person and virtual education, interpretation, and outreach to approximately 40,000 participants annually across the state in support of the Alaska Education, Interpretation and Youth Engagement (EIYE) stepdown strategy.
Provide professional trainings for private and public entities in Alaska and across the United States to increase their capacity and delivery of high quality EIYE visitor services programming.
Manage strategic direction of the site, budget for operations and labor and supervision of staff. Responsible for overall management and leadership of the facility including a budget for operations and labor of approximately $1 million dollars.
Manage programs and priorities including long range and strategic planning, interpretation, education, youth and outreach program design and review, outside organizations, visitor services and resource stewardship.

Qualifications

In addition to the positive education requirement, you must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal Service Specialized experience is defined as: 1) experience serving as the principal coordinator and technical advisor for visitor services programs impacting a wide geographic area; 2) utilization of a wide range of concepts, principles, and practices including interpretation, environmental education, visitor services, outreach planning and implementation; 3) experience coordinating, planning, and overseeing environmental education programs; 4) management of site safety regulations and procedures to ensure a safe and secure work environment; 5) formulation and management of program training plans, staff evaluations, assignment of tasks and priorities, and counseling subordinates; and 6) coordination with managers, planners, and resource specialists on park administration, environmental education, interpretation, visitor services, and/or outdoor recreation planning to identify program requirements and resource needs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
