Help
  • Serves as an expert logistics management specialist concerned with directing, developing, and performing logistics management operations that involve planning, coordinating, and evaluating the execution of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).
  • Applies mastery knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of ILS functions to the extent that the employee is responsible for most or all of the logistics elements.
  • Oversees cradle to grave intensive logistics management to support a complex, major weapons system from concept through field deployment.
  • Performs the full range of planning, liaison, contract monitoring, equipment, and organizational interface, controlling other government elements supporting the effort and logistics phases of field exercises and tests.
  • Manages the processes of planning, directing, managing, monitoring, and evaluating, and correcting deficiencies in ILS throughout the research, development, and acquisition process.
  • Applies the principles of life cycle management, and as the component expert, considers facilities, equipment, geographic/climate conditions, and usage projections to oversee and monitor the planning and implementation.
  • Coordinates with representatives of other components and organizations concerning precedent-setting, controversial, sensitive, and/or complex issues.
  • Recommends new logistics support concepts such as acquisition or integrated Logistics Support plans.

  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Incumbent is required to travel away from the duty station (TDY) 25% of the time.
  • Incumbent must possess, obtain and maintain Level 3 Acquisition Certification in Life Cycle Logistics within 4 years of entrance on duty.
  • Incumbent required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 450) upon entry and annually thereafter.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUE:

This is a Defense Acquisition Workforce (AWF) position. The employee must meet the DoDI 5000.66 requirements applicable to the Career Category/Functional Area and the Career Level Certification assigned on the sequenced position Conditions of Employment data fields in the header of the PD/PRD.

  • Advance Career Level Certification in Life Cycle Logistics Certification must be met within 4 years.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1). Interpreting or reviewing logistics policy/regulatory guidance for all aspects of Life Cycle Integrated Logistics Support (ILS); 2) Managing integrated logistics support activities for major weapons systems to include any of the following: Life Cycle Sustainment Plans, Item Unique Identification (IUID) Plans, Basic of Issue Plan, Type Classification; Reviewing Fielding Plans, Computer Based Training, New Equipment Training, Transition to Sustainment, Tech Manuals Validation/Verification, or Depot support. 3. Utilize software applications (automation tools) to design and generate reports/schedules, briefing material and documentation to brief leadership on recommendations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
