Applies experience and comprehensive knowledge of managing projects/programs, which includes planning and conducting functional activities, and successfully accomplishing work assignments through the leadership of this position and efforts of other contributing professionals and team members. The project/programs include, but are not limited to, new aircraft and aircraft system designs such as urban mobility vehicles, civil supersonic aircraft, electric and hybrid-electric powered aircraft, new flight deck and crew interfaces, increased automation and autonomy, and new passenger interface and protection concepts.
In the Program Manager role the incumbent will apply strong leadership, technical, and interpersonal skills, in a collaborative environment to: Manage communication and database tools/processes to support engagement with applicants for FAA certification, validation or other related approvals of aviation products, technologies, systems, or services under the responsibility of the Aircraft Certification Service; Lead teams of diverse, cross-functional subject matter experts from the Policy & Standards Division, Aircraft Certification Service and other FAA organizations as required, to support the branch’s mission to define a clear pathway to certification or approval of assigned programs while meeting relevant timelines and milestones.
Independently plans time. Makes optimal use of resources to complete activities within established schedules. Identify critical issues and develop and manage appropriate plans to resolve these issues and meet objectives. Identify resource and support needs, and work with management to bring the right team experts to bear for successful support and execution on projects/programs. Prepare for and support the conduct of independent reviews of project/program team progress and products. Ensure close coordination with counterparts and partners in cognizant aircraft certification branches and other divisions, as necessary.
Contacts are internal and external. Communicate status, outcomes, and program needs with AIR management. May be called upon to communicate FAA positions on policies and procedures internally and externally. Performs other duties as assigned. Established policies/procedures provide guidance for most assignments but allow considerable discretion for employee to select the most appropriate approach(es) or develop new approaches. Assignments regularly require interpretations of internal and external policies and extrapolations from precedents. The incumbent resolves most problems and work issues without the assistance of a manager or other experienced professional. Develops and recommends approaches to address current and anticipated problems and issues. Works with management and/or more experienced professionals to solve problems.
Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position at the FV-I, levelyou must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H/FG-12 level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
