Help

As a Program Support Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Provide administrative and technical support to the HRS Director and works closely with Center Directors to create an information portal that will serve as an easy-to-access site for all OHRM employees to locate necessary information, resources, up-to-date guidance, training information, systems instructions, and processes for performing specific functions.
  • Perform limited research and analysis of less complex issues and recommend solutions and appropriate course of action. Research information in response to requests. Provide feedback to HRS Director, Center Director or higher-graded specialists.
  • Serve as liaison to Center Directors to convey information regarding projects, agency policies/goals, to interpret directives, and to clarify procedures.
  • Assist in project plans requiring evaluation and identification of a variety of operational problems, evaluating alternative solutions and recommending actionable options.

The GS-09 salary range starts at $61,111 per year.  

If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected. 

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience may include:

• Providing administrative operating processes for an organization.
• Providing customer service to a wide array of internal customers.
• Utilizing computer systems, programs and databases for automated data input and monitoring.
• Utilizing spreadsheet, document, and presentation software to develop reports and presentations.

OR Education: Possess a master's or equivalent level degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.B. or JD. OR Combination of Education & Specialized Experience: A combination of graduate level education and appropriate experience that together meet the qualification requirements of this position.

How you will be evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

You will be evaluated on the questions you answer during the application process, which will measure your overall possession of the following competencies or knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Your responses to these questions must be supported by your resume or your score may be lowered. 

  1. Skill in working with office software applications, such as Microsoft (Word, Excel, etc.); Google docs, etc., creating websites, etc.
  2. Knowledge of human resources functions (classification, staffing, processing, employee and labor relations, benefits, etc.) to ensure data in the information portal is clearly articulated.
  3. Ability to use analytical techniques, principles, concepts, theories, and methods to analyze data and facts.
  4. Ability to communicate orally and in writing and to tailor communications to a variety of staff levels.
  5. Knowledge of project management principles, methods, and practices.

Additional hurdle assessments, such as narrative responses or other assessments, may be administered to applicants who meet the requirements of the first hurdle, e.g., the minimum qualification requirements. If additional assessments are used, you will be provided with further instructions.
