Help
  • Plan, direct, and carry through to completion major manufacturing and test equipment design projects requiring the design of a wide variety of special tooling, and test equipment.
  • Schedule the work to provide effective utilization of lower grade designers assigned to the projects and to provide for efficient accomplishment of the projects to meet established completion dates.
  • Conduct and direct the preparation and maintenance of complete manufacturing equipment design packages, including tooling designs, machine modifications, operation drawings, and calibration procedures.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports for each assigned project showing percentage of completion, actual accomplishments, problem areas, and reason for any significant deviations from planned progress.
  • Maintain liaison with engineers, technicians and personnel of other arsenal elements, other government agencies and private industry to keep abreast of latest engineering requirements.

  • Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Note: Each grade has different qualifications, which must be met in order to be considered for that grade.

GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Modeling and drafting mechanical equipment using CAD software and (2) Manufacturing or designing equipment used to fixture or gage in-process components. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal Service (GS-07).
GS-10: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Modeling and drafting mechanical equipment using CAD software; (2) Manufacturing or designing equipment used to fixture or gage in process components; and (3) Modeling and drafting components at an in-process state. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal Service (GS-09).

Time in Grade Requirement for GS-10: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).

Time in Grade Requirement for GS-11: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the second lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).

Education
