  • Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the installation Catholic community, ensuring that the Catholic program complies with legal and regulatory requirements and those of AMS and meets customer needs.
  • Represents the organization and the Catholic Community to a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
  • Provider of Roman Catholic worship, liturgy, rites and pastoral care.
  • Exercises management oversight responsibilities.

  • Full/part-time employees occupying direct childcare positions are eligible for discounts IAW DAF AFSVC/CC Memo, 30 Sep 22; first child 100% / each additional child 25%. Other assigned CYP and FCC personnel are eligible for 25% discount.
  • Obtain and maintain Security clearance
  • Must be an ordained Roman Catholic priest in good standing with the Archdiocese of Military Services and must maintain a valid DD Form 2088 signed by the latter for the duration of employment.
  • Subject to background investigations including STATE CRIMINAL HISTORY REPOSITORY CHECKS (SCHRC)
  • May be required to work a non-traditional work schedule to include over-time on holidays, evenings and weekends
  • Must be able to maintain a good working relationship with staff members and the Catholic Community
  • Must remain current in all required training

Chaplain Series 0060

There is no OPM qualification standard for this series.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year at the next lower grade of GS-09 or equivalent in the Federal Service.

RECRUITMENT KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs):

  • Knowledge of Scripture, teachings of the Roman Catholic faith and Canon Law.
  • Knowledge of the role of Catholic clergy in a diverse and pluralistic military religious environment.
  • Ability to oversee a comprehensive Catholic religious education program serving adults and children.
  • Ability to assist in traumatic stress response counseling, pastoral crisis intervention and suicide prevention counseling.
  • Ability to work well with chaplains and religious affairs airmen in an ecumenical/interfaith setting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
