Duties

Help
  • You will assist fire fighter crews engaged in structural firefighting and rescue operations.
  • You will assist in reducing and/or eliminating potential fire hazards.
  • You will assist in performing structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities that may include research and/or large industrial complexes.
  • You will assist and participate in controlling and extinguishing fires by operating hoses, ladders, and hydrants.
  • You will assist in the operation of firefighting vehicles, such as pumpers and aerial ladder trucks.
  • You will assist in performing hazard and risk assessment and conduct incident analysis.
  • You will work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing

Qualifications

I have at least at least six months of general work experience or military service that demonstrates my ability to follow directions and to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures and that otherwise demonstrates my ability to perform or learn to perform the duties of the position.

Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess.

Successfully completed firefighter training that was obtained as part of a high school curriculum; or

  • Successfully completed one year of related education or firefighter training; or
  • A combination of education and experience that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
