Duties

Help

As an Education Specialist, you will:

  • Manage a variety of education programs by developing plans, policies and procedures that guide, govern, and promote these activities.
  • Research and develop programs for adult and senior groups and well as prepare curriculum and teacher study guides for grades K-12.
  • Develop and implement plans for educational programs for the general public on a variety of historical, political and public policy issues.
  • Represent the Library at local and national conferences and educator's meetings. Coordinate Library's participation in educational projects with other educational and cultural institutions.
  • Develop and implement programs (conferences, seminars, workshops, etc.) for adult and seniors, secondary school students and teachers, and for college and university students and professors.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

To qualify for this position at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience:

  • Designing and facilitating professional development programs for educators at the K-12 level that includes best practices for integrating primary resources and archival material into classroom instruction; AND
  • Creating educational curriculum that integrates primary resources and archival materials for students at the K-12 level; AND
  • Leading volunteers, interns, paid, or non-paid staff in the performance of presenting educational material.

To qualify for this position at the GS-11 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience must include.

  • Designing and facilitating professional development programs for educators at the K-16 level that includes best practices for integrating primary resources and archival material into classroom instruction; AND
  • Creating educational curriculum that integrates primary resources and archival materials for students at the K-16 level; AND
  • Leading volunteers, interns, paid, or non-paid staff in the performance of presenting educational material.
OR
  • 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree;
OR
  • A combination of education and experience: Graduate level education in excess of the first two years (36 hours or more) can be combined to meet the experience. One year of full-time graduate education is considered 18 semester hours. Example: Six-months of appropriate specialized experience equivalent to GS-9 and 36 semester hours of appropriate education, equal 100% qualifying experience.
