Summary

This position is located with Child and Youth Services at the US Army Garrison Miami.

Regular Part-Time position with a minimum work week of 20 hours. Eligible for benefits and leave accrual.

This position will work 4-6 hours per day between the hours of 7:30am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Duties

Help
  • Performs a variety of tasks involving the maintenance and minor repairs of buildings, play ground equipment, toys and associated equipment.
  • Performs minor grounds maintenance.
  • Drives government bus with a capacity of up to 15 passengers to transport children/youth on field trips or to and from school.
  • In absence of dedicated kitchen personnel, delivers, and serves light meals/snacks and wash dishes.
  • Identifies materials and equipment for disposal and follows proper procedures for turn-in.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment.
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/physical/background requirements for this position.
  • Must have current health assessment which documents good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease, and immunizations in accordance with current Army and DoD policy including annual influenza vaccinations.
  • A one year probationary period may be required (either initially or upon conversion, if applicable).
  • Successful completion of annual training requirements within the prescribed time frame and demonstrated on the job competence is required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) Check.
  • Schedule includes irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends. Duties involve working both indoors and outdoors under different types of weather conditions.
  • Physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs. There is a requirement to lift and carry items up to 40 pounds frequently and items that are heavier with the assistance of other employees or lift equipment.
  • This position requires mandatory drug testing.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.

Qualifications

High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma. Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner. Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job.

Requires a valid state driver's license (Requires a valid state driver's license to operate a 15 passenger vehicle
OR
Requires a commercial drivers license (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a 24 passenger vehicle.

Highly Preferred candidates will submit resumes that reflect ALL of the following and may be sent first for consideration.

  • 6-12 months experience as a maintenance worker.
  • 6-12 months experience transporting children on a 15-passenger bus/van.
  • Food service preparation experience or training.

PCS Costs
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
  • Regular full-time, regular part-time (to include those in a limited tenure appointment category) and regularly scheduled flexible employees are entitled to Sunday premium pay when working Sunday shifts. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 7.5% for the entire shift when a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 1500 and 2400. A FWS employee will be paid a night shift differential of 10% of the scheduled rate if a majority of the employee's regularly scheduled non-overtime hours of work occur between the hours of 2300-0800.

  • Incentives will not be paid.
