Duties

Help
  • You will function as a Natural Resources Specialist that serves as the focal point for the conservation and management of natural resources.
  • You will formulate plans, implement techniques and develop a broad base of strategies and procedures necessary to successfully conduct the Navy's natural resources conservation and management.
  • You will provide professional advice on management of natural resources, threatened and endangered species, non-native and invasive species matters pertaining to natural resources on Navy lands at meetings and negotiations.
  • You will act as the primary point of contact (POC) for all natural resources matters.
  • You will prepare and submit recommended projects and activities, including recommended budgets for financing implementation of various habitat management programs.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • May be required to obtain a VISA dependent on the overseas country's laws/regulations.
  • You will be required to sign the Statement of Understanding for Overseas Employment acknowledging receipt and understanding of the statement of living and working conditions for this location.
  • This position may require travel to places within and outside the contiguous United States which could include remote or isolated sites. You may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience with terrestrial and marine natural resources applying, a wide range of concepts, principles, practices, and methodology of natural resources conservation and management; providing advice, review, evaluation, negotiations, or problem solving services on natural resources projects, programs, or functions; AND working with marine resources developing Essential Fish Habitat Assessments and Endangered Species Act (ESA) consultations.

Basic Requirements: Series 0401

  1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

    OR

  2. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
