Duties

Help
  • You will serve as the System Security Officer (ISSO) advising all matters, technical and otherwise, involving the security risk mitigation of an information system and it’s authority to operate.
  • You will ensure the implementation and maintenance of security controls in accordance with organizational policy
  • You will coordinate actions, track resolution of vulnerabilities, and provide various report summaries to the Command Information Systems Security Manager and leadership as required.
  • You will maintain and approve plans of action and milestones to reflect outstanding remediation plans.
  • You will approve and maintain local policy and process documents as part of the Body or Evidence for NSWCDD authorization packages.
  • You will assist the command in preparing for and participating in actual or simulated cybersecurity inspections
  • You will monitor security artifacts through the Risk Management Framework, tracking progress, and ensuring that Authorization to Operate (ATO) is obtained and maintained for all networks.
  • You will ensure system patches and DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides are being applied as required.
  • You will maintain awareness of changes and upgrades to the organization's network defense systems/security technologies, operating systems, network methods, installation techniques, hardware, software, and network management systems.

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position 612 - Security Control Assessor, I - Intermediate, the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-04 pay band (GS-11/12 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing cybersecurity risk management analysis to identify, document, or address vulnerabilities affecting the cybersecurity posture of an organization.

Your resume must also reflect IT-related experience that demonstrates each of the four competencies listed below:

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The NT-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-13 and GS-14. The salary range shown in the announcement represents all of the positions within the band, including GS-14 equivalent (high grade) positions. This is not a high grade position; therefore, the salary may be limited to a GS-13 Step 10 (currently $153,354).
