Duties

Help
  • Selection at the GS-05 level, the incumbent will perform the duties of the position, with a reduced level of responsibility and/or difficulty, while receiving on-the-job trainee assignments or other appropriate training.
  • At the full performance level, duties include, but not limited to, the following:
  • Prepare and/or process a full range of personnel actions covering permanent and temporary employments. Request and assemble all required documents for specific actions prior to processing.
  • Answer questions regarding general hiring procedures and requirements to be followed for various types of staffing actions.
  • Assist in the preparation of vacancy announcements based on guidance and instructions from staffing specialists.
  • Provide information about USAJOBS, merit promotion, and delegated examining announcements. Respond to walk-in applicants and telephone callers who are interested in obtaining employment.
  • Perform miscellaneous clerical work in automated HR systems. Input and retrieve data for reports and provide information and advice on routine functions of automated HR systems.
  • Assist with the Security Process.

To qualify at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: providing administrative human resources support by assisting with reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness; entering data or information into databases; maintaining confidential files and employment records.

Education: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate undergraduate education.

To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level of the position to be filled.

To qualify at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the next lower grade level (GS-06) of the position to be filled. Qualified experience includes following regulatory guidance and procedures related to recruitment and staffing; using Human Resources automated systems to input, maintain and track information answering routine HR related inquires and processing routine personnel actions.

Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level of the position to be filled.
