Duties

The candidate selected for this position will:

Support the development, review, publication, and implementation of IT security policy, risk, compliance, and assurance tasks including coordination of responses related to inter-agency (Binding Operational Directives (BODs) and Emergency Directives (EDs) and/or White House/Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

Support efforts of tracking, reporting and communication of Enterprise Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) management, trends, and analysis related to audits, assessments, and/or to correct findings of noncompliance related to implementation of inter-agency and/or White House/OMB IT security policy.

Promote security awareness and ensure that sound security principles are reflected in PBGC’s visions and goals with a focus on phishing and other emerging cybersecurity threats and related to implementation of inter-agency and/or White House/OMB IT security policy.

Exchange information in connection with cyber security requirements. Provide advice, and instruction on cyber security issues throughout the agency related to implementation of inter-agency and/or White House/OMB IT security policy.

Qualifications

All qualification and eligibility requirements must be met by the announcement closing date.

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the private sector applying risk analysis techniques and methodologies. 

Examples include: conducting assessments of policies, standards and processes, ensuring systems are applying Risk Management Framework processes; supporting the development of policies and processes; assisting in Information Technology (IT) security audit and control programs; assisting in developing and conducting annual information Security and Privacy Awareness Training, Role-based Training, and specialized training within the Enterprise Cybersecurity Department (ECD); and supporting risk assessment efforts.

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements described above, your IT experience will be evaluated and expected to include experience in the following competencies: 

  1. Attention to Detail- Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  2. Customer Service- Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  3. Oral Communication- Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving- Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
