Duties

Help

As an IT Specialist (Applications Developer) you will:

  • Develop and enhance custom applications including new features on various platforms such as low code/no code (i.e. ServiceNow), .Net, SharePoint, WordPress, PHP, PowerBI, and Azure to include analysis and definition of customer requirements and specifications.
  • Apply interrelationships of multiple IT specialties, IT architecture, new IT developments and applications, emerging technologies and their application to FMC business processes, project management principles, methods, and practices.
  • Provide product support to address performance issues, bugs, and defects in new and legacy applications which may result in updates to the back end or code changes.
  • Manage migrations to newer versions of SQL Server when deemed appropriate for all database applications.
  • Define milestones and deliverables, monitor activities, and evaluate and report on accomplishments; and oral and written communication techniques.

  • May be required to file a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.

Basic Requirements
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Specialized Experience
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Performing integration work with application programming interfaces (API), data warehouse, and other commercial-off-the-shelf (COT) products.
  • Analyzing and planning for anticipated changes in application capacity requirements, including the modernization of applications working in silo to the migration of a multiplicity of applications into one enterprise application.
  • Ensuring customer and management involvement throughout the software development process; resolving critical issues affecting the configuration of the IT infrastructure; and coordinating he demonstration of enhanced applications to customers and management.
The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
