Help
  • Design instrumentation and capabilities from the concept stage to the finished design or prototype.
  • Conduct cost/benefit analyses to capture differences in man-hours associated with rework.
  • Analyze records and reports and make detailed on-site studies of the work in progress in recurring critical problem areas.
  • Evaluate issues and determine which approach should be taken to solve the issues with managed equipment.
  • Exercise initiative in providing innovative on-site solutions to problems.
  • Prepare and present reports, briefings to supervisor and leadership on issues found.
  • Make use of commercial-off-the-shelf items and/or designs and develop special capabilities required to meet unique test requirements.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • May be required to travel (TDY) 10% of the time for business purposes.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Personnel Background Investigation (NACI).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Providing technical guidance such as: design, development, test and evaluation, repair and modification of testing equipment for automotive systems; 2) Evaluating maintenance capabilities such as: weapon system failures, maintenance programs, performance data, and statistical information to make recommendations on repair of mechanical/electronic weapon systems; OR 3) Examining failed parts from sources (e.g., automated diagnostic and test equipment, manufacturer's technical manuals, specifications, and maintenance records) to determine failures such as: mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
