Provide technical advice regarding safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Execute the Airfield Division Aviation Accident Prevention Program for fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
Provide interpretation of technical and general/vague criteria to assist in the formulation of appropriate control measures.
Represent the Chief, Airfield Division at various meetings, seminars, and conferences to provide technical guidance and assistance for the integration of safety criteria into risk management plans and operation directive.
Assist supervisors in achieving the highest degree of compliance with accident prevention goals and objectives.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
Satisfactory completion of physical examination required.
This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. Requires re-employment and random drug screening.
This position has been identified as being a KEY position.
This is a CP-12 position. CP-12 ACTEDS training is mandatory for personnel filling these positions.
Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Managing safety or occupational health program elements; 2) Applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, practices and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements; and 3) Inspecting workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11.
Education
