Help
  • Serves as a technical expert in all Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) phases.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert (SME) in the architectural design, logic and data flow of Defense Automatic Addressing System (DAAS) interdependent systems.
  • Provides technical guidance to small and/or large groups of technical peers through the start and completion of assigned information technology (IT) and Automated Information System (AIS) projects.
  • Responsible for designing, writing, testing, debugging and maintaining the more advanced and complex portions of program code and related scripts.
  • Designs, develops, implements and tests Continuity of Operation (COOP) for all assigned programs and systems.
  • Assists with project work and participates in process reviews to ensure that all work and processes follow DAAS adopted Change Management (CM) practices, security policies, and accepted application development standards.

Qualifications

To qualify for an IT Specialist (APPSW/SYSANALYSIS), your resume and supporting documentation must support:

A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:- Participating in a variety of software engineering and development assignments providing support and technical guidance.

  • Providing technical review over assigned projects related to Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) and Government Off the Shelf (GOTS) software.
  • Developing formal and informal training on application software such as GOTS, COTS, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and 3rd party software.
  • Routinely reviewing and monitoring operation of current programs and related systems to ensure overall system health, functionality and efficiency.
B. Education Substitution: Education cannot be substituted at this grade level.

  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
