Duties

Help
  • Works under general supervision of the Leisure Activities Manager. Accompanies guests during tours.
  • Gives detailed explanations and interpretations of tour features from the standpoint of historical development and historical background, introduction, and discussion of facts and features influencing present condition.
  • Observes special or major interests demonstrated by tour groups or individuals; adapts discussion to meet the special interests, cultural and educational level of tour groups.
  • Leads groups of visitors through historical sites and areas, gives explanation, identification and description of monuments, interpretation of German and especially Bavarian history.

  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • This position may require a health screening. Immunizations may be required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility.
  • Must have or be able to obtain current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED training certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Must be able to work rotating shift, to include nights, holidays and weekends.
  • Must be able to travel up to 75% of scheduled hours.

Qualifications

  1. Must speak and write the English language sufficiently to communicate orally or in writing on matters pertaining to the assigned work.
  2. Spelling and grammar must be correct.
  3. A good working knowledge of the German language is highly desirable but not mandatory.

Best Qualifying Criteria
  • Experience in the travel industry as a trip leader or tour operator.
  • Experience leading large groups.
  • Experience in working independently.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Pay-Band Allowances and Differentials
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. Sunday premium may be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. Night differential may be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Allowances, differentials, or incentives will not be paid. These allowances may include Living Quarters Allowance (LQA).
