Duties

Help

The purpose of this position is to plan, direct, and manage the operation of the Postl' Point and Outdoor Recreation EquipmentRental activity. Serves as Outdoor Recreation Adventure Programmer. Within established policies and objectives; plans, develops,coordinates, and conducts a variety of recreation clinics and trips in support of a very large outdoor adventure program.Implements higher-level directives, selects activities and services to be offered in addition to required basic programs. Schedules,publicizes and promotes various clinics, trips and other activities. Ensures compliance with all state and local agencies regulatoryrequirements. Analyzes all related costs and calculates prices. Accounts for all funds involved in the program and makesrecommendations to maintain a solid financial condition of activities. Develops and implements procedures to monitor, track anddocument program effectiveness and success. Utilizes various software programs in researching, networking, exchanginginformation and establishing historical files of adventure program. Resolves customer issues and complaints. Monitors and trackscustomer feedback to evaluate and then ensure quality service and client satisfaction. Establishes, reviews, and evaluates purchaseof supplies, equipment, and resale merchandise. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and assists in the repairing andmaintaining of all equipment in ODR. Assigns, directs and reviews the work of assigned employees and volunteers. Recruits,mentors, organizes, plans, and provides direction to volunteers. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, the difficulty ofthe work to be performed, and the capabilities of employees. Evaluates work performance. Gives advice, counsel or instruction toemployees on both work and administrative matters. Effects minor disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands,recommending other action in more serious cases. Prepares employee work schedules and approves leave. Applies EEO conceptsand requirements to maintain an appropriate working environment. Ensures appropriate safety and health practices are followed.Performs other duties as assigned. Reports directly to the Outdoor Recreation Director.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:

Must have experience which provided a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities orprograms. In addition, specialized experience working in an Outdoor Adventure Recreational Activity to include knowledge ofequipment, rules and procedures in that area are required. Certifications in Wilderness First Responder, Leave No Trace, andAmerican Canoe Association are desirable. Must have knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations; e.g. boater's safety& camping safety. Experience and familiarity with Microsoft Office software programs to include Word, Excel and Power Point,are highly desirable. The work requires physical exertion and the incumbent must be able to bend, stoop, and lift items weighing upto 40 lbs. A valid driver's license is required. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check w/Inquiries (NACI).
