Duties

Help

The Office of Information Technology provides automated information systems for the Supreme Court of the United States. The Court's technology environment includes a variety of Court-wide software applications, individual office systems, and off-the-shelf products. Technologies deployed at the Court include HP Intel Core i5 desktop workstations, thin clients, printers, and peripheral equipment, with Microsoft Windows 10/11 and Office Suite 2016/2019 applications in networked environments.

The incumbent configures, tests, troubleshoots and installs desktop and laptop computers, and is required to install peripheral equipment to include scanners, printers, monitors, iPads and iPhones. Installs, configures, and tests desktop operating systems, Microsoft applications, third-party security software, hardware/software upgrades and system patches. Be able to create a standard base image for laptops and PCs. Provides troubleshooting, fault isolation, repair and preventive maintenance of Workstation equipment. Delivers hands-on user training, technical support, problem-solving and general assistance to system users in a "Help Desk" type environment. The incumbent is expected to react calmly with minimal supervision to resolve problems that impact the operations of the Supreme Court Workstation environment.

Qualifications

Minimum of four years user support experience as an IT Field Service Technician is required. The candidate must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Hands-on working-level knowledge of technology products, HP computers and peripheral equipment to include printers, scanners, and Apple products (iPads and iPhones); thorough knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft Office 2016/2019 Suite required; working knowledge of Microsoft Project preferred; ability to install new PCs and laptops and update images on a regular basis; working knowledge of Apple iOS a plus. Requires experience performing hardware evaluation, configuration, and installation of new technologies; ability to field requests for assistance, document and respond to trouble calls, and provide hands-on user training. Must have strong verbal communication, written communication, and customer support skills and the ability to understand and communicate technical information, comprehend technical instructions, evaluate problems, and assist users in the use of Workstation equipment. Must have the ability to remain calm and professional in a high pressure environment and be able to interact in a courteous manner with users on short time frames, and meet other pressing or urgent demands. A-Plus Certified and Microsoft Certified Application Professional status are a plus.

Education

A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
