This position will be assigned to Kraken Kafe and is not guaranteed a set number of hours but can be scheduled 0 - 40 hours per week.

Duties

Help

Prepares a variety of hot beverages such as cappuccinos, brewed coffee, lattes, espresso, hot chocolate, etc. by selecting proper ingredients. Serves cold beverages and food items, such as soda, juice, cookies, muffins, pastries, etc.

Receives payment, operates cash register, makes and returns change to patrons. May be required to prepare documentation for cash funds accountability.

Maintains work area in a neat and clean manner. Sets up/cleans tables for customers and replenishes condiment items as necessary. Performs preventive maintenance and cleaning. Scrapes, soaks, scours glassware, dishes and utensils as required. Also performs heavy duty cleaning tasks as required such as coffee machines, ceilings, under and behind equipment, refrigerators, washes floors and walls, sanitizes garbage cans. May unload stock from delivery trucks. Collects and transfers trash from work area to disposal area.

Assists with inventories, identifies items for re-ordering. May be required to open and close the facility.

Scheduled tour of duty will require evenings, weekends, and holiday work hours.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete assigned training, to include Food Handlers Certification, within specified time from date hire or assignment to the position.
  • This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
  • This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Tier 1 background investigation with favorable results.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
Must be able to follow simple oral instructions, be able to use hand tools for cleaning, and operate simple machines. Must be skilled in completing tasks with several steps and must use judgment in sequencing tasks. Must be able to follow cash handling procedures. Must have knowledge of sanitation standards in handling and serving food and beverages, and for cleaning equipment and work area. Must be physically able to frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Must meet specific physical requirements, pass a physical examination and have required immunizations. Must be able to obtain ServSafe Certificate. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
