The incumbent serves as technical expert responsible for developing and adjudicating the most complex, non-routine Title II and/or Title XVI cases and on public fraud issues in specific claims and post-entitlement cases, provides lead role in technical training and mentoring other employees, provides technical expertise on the most effective use of software/systems to process specific complex claims and post-entitlement actions.

Qualifications

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-11 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Your SSA-45 must show at least one year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Field Office (FO)/ Workload Support Unit (WSU) and (1) adjudicating, authorizing, investigating or reconsidering claims through face-to-face, telephone, or VSD interviews (2) functioning as a lead worker or performing quality control functions in reviewing caseloads (e.g., income maintenance, benefits, pension plans, health insurance, etc.), (3) adjudicating post-entitlement actions including Continuing Disability and Entitlement Reviews and using software and systems such as Workload Action Center (WAC), SSTNG, and eWork (4) mentoring, reviewing, or providing formal/informal training to FO Claims Specialists (CS) on Social Security laws, regulations, policies, and procedures Experience in Title II and/or Title XVI is required. Candidates must describe their Title II and/or Title XVI experience.

Additional information

Position to be filled under the provisions of the SSA/AFGE Merit Promotion Plan. Additional selections may be made within 6 months of the date of the initial selection.

NOTE: Excepted service employees serving under Schedule A appointments for Attorney positions or Pathways Programs appointments (Presidential Management Fellows, Recent Graduates, and Interns) are not eligible for consideration.

This is not a career ladder position, GS-12 is the full performance level.
