Duties

Help

Assists in coordinating requests for reporting services for House Committee hearings, including liaison with vendors and committee staff. Responsible for operation and maintenance of IT function for 50 workstations, including troubleshooting technical problems. Serves as in-house technical advisor on IT issues and acts as liaison with the Clerk’s IT organization. Maintains the highest degree of confidentiality of secret and top-secret documents. Works in a small workstation in an office environment without expectation of privacy where noise levels are usually moderate.

1) Supports the Chief Clerk with coordinating reporting services, including maintaining accurate schedules and records, filing hearing notices, and ensuring reporting service delivery and transcript production.

2) Responsible for operation and maintenance of IT function for 50 workstations, including analyzing computer technical problems, developing solutions and plans for IT issues, problems, and concerns, and serves as internal technical advisor on the computerization, design, and application of electronic information/computer systems.

3) Assists in all phases of committee transcript production and maintains database for management reports and spreadsheets.

4) Serves as a Team Lead for committee transcript production and delivery. 

5) Understands and supports other services and areas of the Office of Official Reporters.

6) Accepts performance-based criticism and direction, meets attendance requirements as established by the office, and works a flexible schedule including long hours, nights and weekends, when necessary.

7) Maintains a good working relationship with other Office of Official Reporter staff, works cooperatively and courteously with others, and works well under pressure while handling stress appropriately.

8) Maintains updated records related to the Office of Official Reporters’ stenographic inventory, technical equipment, continuity of operations offsite equipment, and Administrative and Technical Support Manual. 

9) Assists with the production of classified transcripts and Secret Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) Management. 

10) Performs other official duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must possess thorough knowledge of the configuration of various IT systems. Must be proficient in WordPerfect, Office 365, windows operating systems, DOS, and other document production software. Familiarity with court reporting software (Case CATalyst) is strongly recommended. Must possess the appropriate education and experience demonstrating the ability to evaluate, program, design, and monitor office IT systems. Must possess the temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant, and professional manner. National security clearance is required. This position is identified as a Test Designated Position and is subject to random drug testing. Must have general familiarity with the congressional legislative process, have an analytical mind, and be detail oriented.
