Help

Major duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitors and receives routine and emergency calls form a variety of sources that need police, fire, medical, or other emergency services.
  • Provides high quality customer service and provides information to employees and the public on a variety of subjects related to the mission of Police Service.
  • Uses personal judgement to prioritize events and commit police resources appropriately.
  • Operates a variety of communications equipment, telephones, and computer systems to support both routine and emergency operations, such as Eastern Colorado Health Care System Physical Access Control Systems (PACS), which includes alarm access and monitoring, tracing access patterns, programming, assigning or removing user permissions, updating databases, and other functions.
  • Compiles and prepares reports related to events occurring in the operation of the police control center for dissemination of the completed products to various management officials.
  • Operates video surveillance systems (equipped with and without analytical software capabilities) for Eastern Colorado Health Care System sites.
  • Assesses on-scene behavior and determines when it is appropriate to dispatch law enforcement or other personnel to investigate.
  • Tracks critical information and reports the findings to the supervisor.
  • Utilizes the VA Police Software (Report Exec) to research information, to complete reports, to complete daily operational journals and vehicle registrations.
  • Uses the Colorado Crime Information Center (CCIC) and the National Crime Information Computer (NCIC) to access sensitive law enforcement information to support field operations and investigations.
  • Operates alarm systems monitoring fire, access, intrusion, duress/panic, medical emergencies, psych emergencies, and medical assist teams.
  • Conducts equipment inventories; completes records and other logs.
  • Coordinates with various Federal, State, and local law enforcement officials for coordination of emergency situations.
  • Accomplishes special projects as assigned, such as developing program statistics, reports, and other material; extracting and compiling pertinent data to provide the background necessary for determination of program/project status.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Sunday - Saturday, Varying Full Time Hours to support 24/7 operation, may include overtime, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays(Shifts may include 7-12-hour workdays in a 14-day pay period (84 hours per pay period), with 3 days on duty, 2 days off duty, 2 days on duty, 3 days off duty, and so forth)

Physical Requirements: The work is typically sedentary in nature. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, such as papers books, and small parts, or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Working on off-tours, rotating shifts, or regular overtime may be required along with being assigned to various locations within the area of responsibility as required.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/20/2024.

GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes:

  • Receiving, monitoring, and processing routine and emergency calls from a variety of sources that need police, fire, medical, or other emergency services.
  • Using various databases, i.e., Colorado Crime Information Computer and National Crime Information Computer, to access sensitive law enforcement information, such as: criminal histories, arrest warrants, driver records, vehicle registration, stolen property, and firearms.
  • Coordinating with various Federal, State, and local law enforcement officials for coordination of emergency situations.
  • Providing interpretation of regulations, procedures, and methods.
  • Preparing and submitting after action reports with findings and recommendations to supervisors for review.
