Duties

Help
  • You will demonstrate the basic knowledge of gas cutting and welding, exothermic welding, weight handling equipment including estimating safe working load.
  • You will demonstrate the use of Personnel Fall Protection Systems, health and physical risks associated with hazardous materials and proper selection of personnel protective equipment.
  • You will interpret blueprints, drawings and design specifications and must have knowledge of job related general industry and construction safety standards as prescribed by Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
  • You will operate heavy-duty winch equipment, reeling devices, hoists, man-lifts and material and weight handling equipment.
  • You will load capacities and/or compute breaking strength of fibrous ropes, synthetic slings, and wire rope end related attachments.
  • You will follow accepted industry standards and procedures for rigging and moving heavy objects.
  • You will perform high angle emergency rescue techniques used for removing an injured person from a tower and/or mountainous terrain.
  • You will be required to have experience in first aid and maintain qualifications for performing adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Must have a practical knowledge of mathematics and be capable of learning how to estimate safe working loads for rigging gear applications.

Additional information

In addition to the Required Element the ideal Incumbent should posses:

  • Understand the safe and proper use of personnel fall arrest systems, hand and power tools, utilization of personnel protective clothing and equipment, and comprehend health risks associated with hazardous materials.
  • Ability to assist with operating heavy equipment such as winches, cable reeling devices, hoists, rigging gear, scaffolding, man-lifts and weight and material handling equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of proper knots, splices, and termination for both wire rope and manila line.
  • Ability to perform emergency rescue techniques used for removing an injured person from a tower.
  • This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
