These programs and projects span a wide range of objectives, from ensuring critical upgrades are performed to the FAA’s IT infrastructure and enterprise applications to identifying and deploying solutions to ensure safety organizations are provided with accurate and timely information.

Incumbent’s responsibilities are diverse and spans multiple domains critical to the effective and efficient achievement of customer’s goals. The duties include:

Project/Program Management:

  • Oversee and manage complex IT, cybersecurity, and data-related projects across all phases of the Project Management Lifecycle (PMLC), including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Ensure project success by managing scope, budget, risks, and schedules, with a focus on initiatives such as systems upgrades, IT security programs, and data cataloging.
  • Lead matrixed project teams, ensuring alignment with FAA Cybersecurity policies, Data Strategy objectives, and enterprise goals.
  • Conduct analytical studies, cost-benefit analyses, and research to support IT system acquisition, deployment, and optimization.

Cybersecurity and Data Governance:

  • Partner with the AIT directorates, particularly the Information Security & Privacy Service (AIS) and Chief Data Office (ADO), to implement and maintain frameworks for securing and optimizing critical data assets.
  • Promote data accuracy, consistency, and compliance while fostering a culture that recognizes data as a valuable corporate asset.
  • Support data onboarding by equipping teams with security and data tools and methodologies to transform raw data into actionable insights.

Operational Efficiency and Policy Compliance:

  • Develop, recommend, and implement solutions to complex organizational challenges to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Create and implement strategies for risk mitigation, contingency planning, and compliance for IT systems.
  • Advocate for FAA policies, representing the organization in internal and external advisory roles.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Mentor and guide less-experienced professionals to cultivate a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Lead meetings and briefings for diverse audiences including working teams, managers, directors, and executives.
  • Serve as the principal point of contact for assigned projects/products, facilitating coordination across FAA Lines of Lines of Business and Staff Offices.

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I / FG/GS-13. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized experience may include but not limited to: Experience working in a leadership role on complex IT projects or programs throughout the Project Management Lifecycle (PMLC) including application development efforts, systems upgrades and installations, technology outsourcing, or IT security initiatives.
