Summary

The VCS Central Office, located at the Jefferson Barracks VA Medical Center campus in St. Louis, MO is conducting a recruitment search for a Procurement Technician in our Contracting and Procurement Division. This division is responsible for providing mission critical contracting and procurement support for the VCS. In this position, you will report to the Chief of Contracting and Procurement and fulfill an important role for the Division, VCS Central Office, and field operations.

Duties

Help

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for procuring supplies and services as a government purchase card holder to support the operations of the contracting and procurement division.
  • Evaluate purchase requests to determine the most effective procurement method.
  • Prepare and manage documents and timelines.
  • Act as the main contact for internal and external stakeholders, responding to questions and requests efficiently.
  • Monitoring contracts to ensure timely and accurate actions and effectively prioritizing contract requirements.
  • Under appropriate guidance, negotiate competitive and fair pricing with vendors and suppliers.
  • Preparing final contracts, including price analysis, specifications, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
  • Research products and services as needed, clarify requests for understanding, resolve issues within authority, and prepare documents for higher review when required.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of procurement functions, policies, and operations to determine the best methods to use in purchase and delivery orders.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and shift priorities as necessary.
  • Possess strong analytical skills to diagnose issues, troubleshoot problems and find effective solutions.
  • Proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team as well as independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Education

PREFERRED QUALIFCIATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or 24 semester hours in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.
