Duties

Help
  • Communicates with beneficiaries, lessees, land owners and other interested parties about the process options, documentation, and other needs that may be associated with contracting activities.
  • Perform work consisting of technical duties with continuing responsibility for projects, questions, or problems that arise within the realty program.
  • Serves as an assistant assuming a wide responsibility of technical duties, i.e., proceeding with advertisement/ publications, verifying data to process applications for contract under immediate supervisor.
  • Accepts applications for realty associated activity, providing technical assistance and information in response to inquiries to assure regulatory compliance.
  • Utilizes automated systems to verify ownership and monitor activity.
  • Screens incoming correspondence, prepares and processes replies to routine inquiries and assembles any required supplemental material and submits for signature.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for One-Grade Interval Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, GS-1101).

GS-6: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade that include work involved in accepting applications for leasing activity; reviewing transactions, land descriptions, appraisals, and other clearances to determine compliance with statutory authority, laws, regulations, tribal ordinances, policies, and procedures; assist in identification of lands available for lease from expiring leases or through review of land reports. These examples are not all inclusive (refer to the summary of duties for specialized experience).

GS-5: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level assisting specialists who process and approve subsurface leasing, leasing, permits, easements and rights-of-ways, and includes word processing, either solely or in combination with clerical work -for example, preparing realty correspondence, maintenance of logs and clearing and categorizing files or documents to aid in delivery of documents or files to the appropriate file format. These examples are not all inclusive (refer to the summary of duties for specialized experience)

EDUCATION:
Four (4) years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field at an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school.)

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the position to be filled.

PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting the experience or education requirements, applicants must show possession of typing and office automation skills. Applicants may meet the typing requirement by passing the appropriate test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificate by the Office of Personnel Management local office or by self-certifying their proficiency.

One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education which shows the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
