Duties

Help
  • Provide technical support for operating systems to maintain functionality across multiple datacenters.
  • Provide expert advisory to a team on a broad scope of IT servicing assignments.
  • Perform oversight on implementing new equipment and computer technology services.
  • Test the functionality of cloud infrastructures to ensure optimal performance.
  • Analyze departmental requested systems for compliance with regulations prior to approval for purchase.
  • Develop presentations for various levels of leadership advising on proper procedures and policies.
  • Advise employees/contractors to ensure work is properly aligned with Performance Work Statements.
  • Troubleshoot operating systems such as Windows, Solaris Unix, and Oracle Enterprise Linux to maintain efficiency.
  • Perform system analysis on various applications to identify issues that could result in system upgrades or replacement.
  • Analyze product performance within functional areas and present findings and recommendations.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 60% of the time
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. If the security clearance is denied or revoked, the individual may be denied or removed from the position, accordingly.
  • A one year probationary period my be required.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Engineering and Technical Management certification within 36 months as of entrance on duty.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. To qualify you must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below based on the grade level required of the position being filled:

1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In addition to the four competencies, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Developing documentation in SAP BI/BW, Business Objects/BOBJ, Crystal Reports, and/or Web Intelligence (WebI); 2) Collaborating with stakeholders, functional teams, customers, or system stakeholders on requirements management and/or alignment with the overall mission; 3) Reviewing specifications written by functional teams to provide time estimates, development feasibility or execute the needed programming; and 4) Reviewing documents created by junior developers, such as technical specs, configuration documentation, test scripts, training decks or manuals.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • This is Defense Cyberspace Workforce Framework (DCWF) position as outlined in DoDD 8140.01.
  • This non-supervisory position is subject to a salary control point equivalent to the GS-13, step 10 base salary, or if the incumbent's salary currently exceeds the GS-13, step 10 level the incumbent's salary will be put on a salary control point at the incumbent's existing salary.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
