U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a component of the Department of Homeland Security responsible for managing, controlling, and protecting our nation's borders at and between official Ports of Entry. CBP is also responsible for securing and facilitating trade and travel while enforcing immigration, customs, and agriculture laws and regulations.
The health and wellbeing of the CBP workforce is vital to the success of the CBP mission. As Executive Director, Workforce Care, in Enterprise Services, you will oversee the development, deployment, and delivery of nationwide wellness and resiliency-related programs, policies, and initiatives. You will oversee the delivery of programs to foster a healthy and supportive environment for employees and their families, including such programs as Employee Assistance, Veteran Support, Chaplains, Resiliency Skills Training, Peer Support, Suicide Prevention, Traumatic Incidents and Events Response, and Financial Wellness.
As Executive Director, Workforce Care, you will institute appropriate measures to ensure all resiliency-related education, training, certification, and outreach is deployed to all CBP employees. You will oversee the issuance of policy directives and instructions to CBP organizational elements. You will serve as a member of CBP's Senior Management Team and as a strategic advisor to the Executive Assistant Commissioner and Deputy Executive Assistant Commissioner for Enterprise Services, other component Executive Directors, and the Office of the Commissioner.

Position Designation: This position is designated as Career Reserved.
Probationary Period: You will serve a one-year probationary period unless you previously completed the probationary period in the SES.
Political Appointee Employee Verifications: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Executive Core and Technical Qualification Requirements:

Additional information
Relocation Bonus: CBP may authorize a relocation bonus (not to exceed 25% of basic pay) for an eligible selectee. A service agreement would be required.
Relocation Expenses: We may choose to pay your relocation expenses in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations.
Travel: Overnight travel may be required on a regular basis (25% or less).
Telework eligible: Yes, based on agency policy.
Leave: You will earn 26 vacation days and 13 days of sick leave per year. In addition, the Government observes 11 regular paid holidays each year.
Background Investigation: This is a sensitive position and the tentative selectee must undergo and successfully complete a background investigation as a condition of placement/ retention in the position. A security clearance will be required upon appointment.
