Duties

Help
  • Supporting data engineering and analysis to develop traditional and machine learning models.
  • Researching to o establish objectives and approach; ability to isolate and define critical features of the problem; formulation and application of methodology; identify alternative courses of action; and clear, concise, presentation of results.
  • Collaborates with Operations Research Analysts, Engineers, Computer Scientists, and other technologists to analyze difficult and complex problems.
  • Assessing and understanding the problem scope, develop effective plans and approaches, devise new methods and/or apply existing theories to develop effective and efficient solutions.
  • Applying innovative data science and mathematical approaches to the analysis of complex problems and opportunities.
  • Identifying the methods, processes, algorithms, tools, and systems to extract and interpret findings from varied structured and unstructured data sets related to data science lifecycle.
  • Contributes to the development of algorithms and/or tools to support data manipulation and processing as well as the use of data visualization techniques to articulate findings.
  • Applying professional knowledge of computer science and mathematical theories and technique to analyze, design and construct processes for modeling, interpreting, and reporting quantitative information, trends, and correlations within data sets.
  • Develops feasible data architecture recommendations for new and emerging models, analysis tools, and projects.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Education Requirements DB-1560-04:

A. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

OR

B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1.) Supporting data engineering and analysis to develop traditional and machine learning models; 2) Applying innovative data science and mathematical approaches to the analysis of complex problems and opportunities; 3)
Identifying methods, processes, algorithms, tools, and/or systems to extract and interpret findings from varied structured and unstructured data sets related to data science lifecycle; 4) Developing feasible data architecture recommendations for new and emerging models, analysis tools, and projects.
