Summary

You will serve as an executive/flag level protocol and administrative specialist providing support to U.S. Naval Attaches and embassy staff. You will serve as a primary contact for U.S. Navy's input to the Defense Intelligence Agency Defense Attache Service. This position is located within the Navy Attache Affairs Office of NAVAL INTELLIGENCE ACTIVITY in Suitland, Maryland.

Duties

Help
  • You will be responsible for the accuracy of documentation of all Naval Attaches nominated to the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
  • You will work with Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), naval diplomats, and their embassy staff to resolve professional and personal issues that may impact the Attaches' ability to perform their diplomatic duties.
  • You will serve as a Navy Attache Affairs POC with senior U.S. Government, worldwide stakeholders, and Navy personnel in the Defense Attache Service (DAS) in support of Navy Attache Affairs events.
  • You will draft/produce executive level official correspondence for U.S. Navy senior leaders’ signature regarding matters of importance to the Naval Attache and diplomatic community.
  • You will represent the Navy Attache Affairs Office in external meetings, conferences, and forums to communicate mission, goals, and objectives.

  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
  • This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
  • This position may require a two-year DCIPS trial period requirement.
  • You may be required to travel up to 25% of the time for this position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  1. Assign work based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of the employee to facilitate organizational efficiency;
  2. Coordinate support services provided by contracted companies (e.g., catering, vendors, facilities) to ensure services rendered comply with organizational protocol and budgetary guidance;
  3. Compose and manage written correspondence for senior leadership to maintain oversight and management continuity of internal operations.
