Help
  • Responds to calls for police assistance and emergency help.
  • Responds to criminal activities.
  • Investigates accidents and prepare reports.
  • Conducts preliminary investigations of security breaches and interview witnesses, along with compiling evidence.
  • Subdues and disarms people committing violent acts and arrest suspects.
  • Escorts important persons/visitors and give directions.
  • Drives patrol vehicle around installation and issue tickets for parking violations.
  • Operates radar speed detection devices and alcohol breath analysis equipment.
  • Directs traffic and if needed, direct individuals away from accidents and fires.
  • If needed, gives depositions, and testify in court.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must meet requirements of Individual Reliability Program.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Must be able to pass an initial and an annual physical agility test.
  • Must meet established hearing standards and have the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
  • Must carry firearms and pass periodic proficiency examinations in the use of firearms.
  • Must obtain and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and know first aid.
  • This position is designated as Key/Emergency Essential.
  • Must wear a uniform and must wear protective clothing and devices, such as a ballistic vest and hearing and eye protection.
  • The employee must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • The employee is required to work rotating shifts.
  • Overtime may be required, including emergency overtime.
  • Recall to duty may be a requirement of this position.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position. The employee is subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • This position requires employee to work under adverse environmental conditions.
  • This position is subject to Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968..
  • The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle, sometimes in an emergency services situation. Employee must attend and pass a certified emergency vehicle operations course. A valid State driver's license is required.
  • For the GS-06 Level: Incumbent must attend the United States Army Civilian Police Academy and successfully graduate within 12 months of hire date.
  • For the GS-06 Level: Incumbent will be required to successfully complete a Police Officer Field Training Program within 6 months upon initial assignment to law enforcement duties and maintain certification.
  • For the GS-07 Level: Position requires successful completion of the US Army Civilian Police Academy and Field Officer Training Program.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience:
For the GS-06 Level: One year of specialized experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: enforcing a body of laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involving the responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property (including government, contractor or private property); and performing or assisting in criminal investigative duties such as accident investigations or security breach investigations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

For the GS-07 Level: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Prevention, detection and/or investigation of crimes; (2) Protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; and (3) Maintaining order and/or protecting life. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level position in the federal service (GS-06).

In addition to the qualification above, to qualify for/progress to the GS-7 level you will need the following certifications: Successful completion of the US Army Civilian Police Academy and Field Officer Training Program. NOTE: All certifications must be submitted with application.

Education
