Help

Performs under the minimal direction of the Manager, Program Management Staff. Is a contributing specialist on large work activities related to mission activities across the Civil Aerospace Medical Institute (CAMI) and the Office of Aerospace Medicine (AAM), an office within AVS. Has sole responsibility for the audio/visual (A/V) communication strategies, policies, and plans for CAMI and AAM, develops and implements all audio/visual (A/V) productions (digital, hard-copy, audio) at CAMI and is the subject matter expert for AAM regarding audio/visual productions and use of A/Vat the AAM-level. Is the subject matter expert for A/V and the inclusion of A/V and independently interacts with internal and external customers to plan, design, and carry out programs and projects which are typically large-scale. Works independently, quickly, and effectively in the production of numerous types of A/V products to support medical education (national AAM program), medical certification (national AAM program), research projects, the CAMI clinic, and other divisions within AAM, including the AAM HQs in Washington D.C. As the subject matter expert, provides guidance regarding computer graphics technology, integrated multimedia systems, video productions, website graphics, audio streaming, video streaming, or any new technologies. Expertise for video production includes consultation, directing, editing, script writing, camera operating, set lighting, and video electronic graphics.

Both national programs, in terms of efficiencies and effectiveness, are utilizing distance learning activities to reach broader audiences. Coordinates with managers, physicians, and others in developing and implementing distance learning modules.

Prepares, operates, modifies, and maintains digital recording and analog video equipment. Provides video coverage and photography of events, such as training classes, presentations, or scientific experiments, including audio and video production with editing capability to a master format for distribution or archiving purposes.

Provides audio-visual support and operations for and maintains large format High-Definition technical equipment of the CAMI Auditorium. Provides individual one-on-one support to CAMI divisions and Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center personnel on large screen displays, video conferencing, and use of equipment for presentation.

Duplicates, converts, and prepares film, videotape, slides, photos, artwork, and text for mastering in digitized format. Digitizes documents, both paper and photos, from autopsy cases and stores in a computerized format for ready retrieval by researchers. Scans autopsies on CD for long-term storage and use. Digitizes all toxicology case files and related documents, both paper and photos, for storage in a computerized format for ready retrieval by researchers.

Archives existing videotape, film and digital media in an organized retrievable permanent format. Maintains current equipment and identifies new capture formats that will be usable with existing digital editing systems. Identifies upgrades for existing digital video equipment, computer hardware and software.

Designs, in collaboration with researchers and management, state-of-the-art presentations on various aerospace medicine and human factors research projects for presentation to a wide variety of audiences worldwide. Also designs, provides proofs, and prints large format poster presentations for research staff for presentation to professional organizations. Develops and presents presentations to promote the mission of the FAA, CAMI, and the division using in-house expertise in digitized voice and visual software and hardware.

Creates, prepares, and maintains a digital image library which embodies all CAMl's published technical reports, aviation physiological training, and an overview of CAMI functions, projects, and activities.

Provides graphics support to the Office of Aerospace Medicine awards programs.

Qualifications

TO QUALIFY AT THE FV-I (FG/GS 13) level, you must demonstrate in your application you possess at least one (1) year of Specialized Experience equivalent to FV-H (FG/GS 12) level. Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes experience in video production, consultation, direction, editing, script writing, camera operations, set lighting, and video electronic graphics; audio/visual (A/V) projects encompassing print design to visual/video production including the use of animation and real life taping/recording; operating, modifying, and maintaining digital recording and analog video equipment; digitizing paper and photo documents for archiving.

AND

QUALITY RANKING FACTOR (QRF): Well qualified candidates will have experience using multiple video recording production equipment, editing, and finalizing productions for use.
