Duties

Help
  • You will perform general laboring duties involving loading and unloading trucks, moving office furniture, equipment, and supplies by hand or with various moving devices (dollies/hand trucks).
  • You will perform road work such as, uses concrete, gravel, and/or asphalt to fill and level holes in damaged roads. Breaks-up pavement using jackhammers and clears sidewalks using large, industrial-type, powered blowers.
  • You will perform grounds maintenance on grades or slopes; dig ditches and trenches with picks and shovels where dirt is hard and compact.
  • You will operate large, industrial, walking-type power mowers, and/or simple riding-type mowers. Adjust blades for cutting height, prepares gasoline/oil mixtures for powered equipment, and cleans and lubricates mowers.
  • You will separate, stacks, carry and loads/unloads materials, supplies, and packages. May lift and move very heavy furniture, equipment, supplies, etc., through confined spaces.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This position requires knowledge and skill in the operation, control and cleaning of heavy power equipment such as, power lawn mowers and gasoline powered edgers. Skill in performing routine operator maintenance such as, cleaning and oiling power equipment; and adjusting and sharpening blades. Skill to work safely with heavy tools (axes, picks, tampers, chain saws, etc.), avoid accidents, and to complete work according to established schedules. Skill to operate electric hand trucks, pallet jacks, and dollies to move very heavy loads.

This position may be job sited. The employee may be required to report for work at a location other than a permanently assigned location.

The employee may be re-called to duty or required to work overtime on an emergency basis.
