About the Position: Serves as the principal assistant and primary advisor to the Chief, Safety Office, in executing the overall District safety and occupational health program. Serves as acting chief during chief's absence.

Duties

Help
  • Administers and manages construction safety and Occupational health laws and regulations to ensure organizational compliance.
  • Conduct Safety inspections of construction sites for compliance of local laws and safety regulations. Oversite of operations by identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions.
  • Conduct review of safety plans and submittals at various stages of construction projects.
  • Facility Inspections of USACE field offices and operation facilities .
  • Investigate accidents, analyses causative factors and develops recommendations for corrective actions and safety improvements.
  • Develop and conduct face to face and/or virtual safety education classes and seminars to develop safety knowledge for USACE employees.
  • Promote safety awareness by developing and providing technical safety training to supervisors and employees.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination.
  • This position requires the wearing of protective clothing and gear.
  • The duties of this position require travel up to approximately 25% of the time.
  • This position may require lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • This is a Career Program 12 (CP-12) Position and all ACTEDS requirements apply, to include, as a condition of employment, employee must attain CP-12 Level I Certificate within twelve months of hire.

This is an Obligated Position: TERM NTE 13 Months.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience:
Specialized experience to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Surveying workplace for occupational safety and health requirements violations. 2) Assisting managers in planning and managing a comprehensive safety and occupational health program to eliminate or control risk of injury to personnel, and 3) Provide innovative analyses of high risk activities involving construction and environmental health hazards.
