Duties

Help

Under the direction of the School Age Program Coordinator assist with developing and implementing program services and a variety of educational and recreational activities that stimulate and sustain the social, cognitive, physical, and emotional growth of youth. Work with training and curriculum specialists, staff, and volunteers to develop appropriate curriculum packages. Plan and develop special activities, e.g., field trips, special events, and activities for youth with special needs (i.e., learning disabilities, gifted youth, etc.). Provide input on program promotion/publicity and communicate with parents and others through monthly newsletters, parent handbooks, brochures, and presentations. Participate in planning, supervising, and/or conducting parent involvement/education activities. Maintain contact with other local school age programs and participate in local, state and national school age organizations in order to remain current with school age program practices. Assist in coordinating transportation for program participants. Based on patron needs, facility constraints, and available resources, recommend modifications of program operations, goals, philosophy, hours and days of operation, procedures, and policies. Maintain continuous oversight of all program operations and activities to ensure they comply with DoD, Air Force, and local policies. Ensure guidelines, and standards; are consistent with school age program national standards; and are appropriate and effective. Establish administrative procedures and operating instructions and maintain continual surveillance over their application to ensure compliance. Inspect the physical environment (indoor and outdoor) of program activities and facilities to ensure they are safe and healthy; space, materials, and equipment are adequate; and staff/youth interactions are appropriate. Correct deficiencies as required. Monitor required staff agency inspections to ensure they are accomplished and documented. In the absence of the School Age Coordinator, act as Supervisor on Duty and represent the program with customers as well as flight, squadron, group, and installation leadership. Assist the School Age Program Coordinator with administrative matters related to staffing, including but not limited to, scheduling, submitting RPAs, assisting with interviews, conducting reference checks, inputting and/or certifying timecards, maintaining personnel folders, conducting and documenting employee trainings, verifying background checks, employee recognition and other related duties as assigned. Assists in the formulation and execution of APF and NAF budgets. Performs administrative duties to include collecting, preparing, and maintaining written reports. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma (or equivalent), and must speak, read and write English. Must have maturity and good judgment and when working with children/youth and their parents. Must possess a valid USFJ Form 4EJ driver's license appropriate for the size and type of vehicle operated. Must provide a copy of driving record. Must maintain a good driving record. One year at the CY-02 Leader Level (or equivalent) and completion of an Associate of Arts degree in early childhood education, youth development or a related field or have a Child Development Associate credential or Youth Development credential (remain current); or, completion of a BS/BA degree in early childhood education, youth development or a related field (fully substitutes for required experience/educational requirements).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
