Summary

This position is in the Administrative Support Section, Division of Administrative Operations of the Cooperative Studies Program Clinical Research Pharmacy Coordinating Center located in Albuquerque, NM. The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct support to the administrative/technical aspects of the Clinical Research Pharmacists and Pharmaceutical Project Managers of Division of Study Design and Management.

This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-07. At the GS-06 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-07. Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher-level work, and availability of funds.

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assembling the administrative research record for one or more complex multicenter clinical trials (MCTs), researching relevant regulations and administrative decisions to identify, document, and report requirements and ensuring compliance and completeness of research file.
  • Monitoring the design of administrative data collection instruments and procedures, selection of appropriate measures and techniques, study implementation, data analysis, and interpretation of results in order to identify the records required.
  • Formatting research posters and manuscripts from drafts, researching style guidelines appropriate to the recipient, correcting grammar and spelling, cross-checking references, and ensuring charts and graphs conform to style guidelines.
  • Monitoring administrative data collection, identifying, and analyzing inconsistencies and problems, and recommending modifications consistent with crucial regulations and standards consistent with MCT requirements and functions.
  • Preparing appropriate reports while protecting PHI and PII of patients participating in the research.
  • Ensuring appropriate administrative/technical data security controls (e.g., PHI, PII) are in place and maintained for all data whether in electronic or printed form.
  • Participating as a member of a multi-disciplinary project team supporting complex national and international regulated pharmaceutical research referred to as multicenter clinical trials (MCT).
  • Coordinating the preparation of the study newsletter, minutes of meetings, routine reports, and general correspondence.
  • Ensuring the completion and correctness of all administrative/technical data work-in-progress, as necessary, assisting facility personnel with the reconciliation of any data collection quality issues.
  • Developing operating procedures and instructions for use by other staff participating in the establishment of administrative research record.
  • Correlating administrative data and preparing reports and graphs for performance metrics across MCTs, including customer satisfaction, clinical supplies in the field, customer complaints, etc.
  • Mentoring junior research assistants in technical aspects of work, providing one-on-one training and support as required.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm

TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING:

DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIREMENT: You must possess a current, valid state driver's license.

TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-06 LEVEL APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) in Federal Service, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Program Support Assistant, GS-06 position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes compiling and summarizing information and data, identifying inaccuracies or anomalies, and making written recommendations to resolve discrepancies; using office equipment including a computer and associated software used for database management, scheduling, project planning, and spreadsheets; drafting, writing, and reviewing formal correspondence, technical reports, and other documents in accordance with guidelines and procedures. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume to receive credit.

TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-07 LEVEL APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) in Federal Service, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Program Support Assistant, GS-07 position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes compiling and summarizing information and data, identifying inaccuracies or anomalies, and making written recommendations to resolve discrepancies; using office equipment including a computer and associated software used for database management, scheduling, project planning, and spreadsheets; drafting, writing, and reviewing formal correspondence, technical reports, and other documents in accordance with guidelines and procedures; assuming primary responsibility for assembling the administrative research record for one or more complex multicenter clinical trials (MCT's); monitoring the design of administrative data collection, instruments and procedures, selection of appropriate measures and techniques, study implementation, data analysis, and interpretation of results; managing complex ancillary supply inventories with multiple products and predicting complex shipping schedules.
