As a Sports Specialist (Men's Basketball Assistant Coach), you will be responsible for the development and conduct of educational courses and programs; instruction and academic counseling of Midshipmen, and assuming a share of departmental and other academic responsibilities. In addition, the incumbent’s background and credentials demonstrate the ability to teach classes in Physical Education and perform the duties of Basketball Assistant Coach.
The ideal candidate must be highly motivated and experienced professional who works to support the Mission of the USMMA. They must be capable of adjusting to various work environments, physical demands, and schedules. They must be able to work well within the structure of the basketball staff and must be a positive contributor.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
SELECTIVE SERVICE: Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for the Selective Service.
TRIAL PERIOD: This is an Excepted Service position. This job will be filled by an alternative hiring process and is not in the competitive service. Applicants selected for an excepted service position may be subject to a two-year trial period.
GOVERNMENT TRAVEL CARD: This position involves travel. A government contractor-issued travel card will be issued and must be retained for official business only.
NOTE: This is a Full-Time, Excepted Service appointment with an Initial Term Not-to-Exceed 13 months; however, each year with a satisfactory performance appraisal, the appointment may be extended for an additional year.
Qualifications
To be qualified for this position, you must meet the education requirements and have experience teaching college level classes in the required field of study.
At least 1 academic years of teaching Physical Education, Physical Fitness, or similar related courses above the high school level or 1 sports season of full time experience (or equivalent) coaching and recruiting for a Basketball Program at the college or university level.
