Duties

Help
  • Serve as a liaison with partners and stakeholders, to help execute national program policies and guidance.
  • Assist with the planning, development, and management of strategic plans and accomplishment tracking tools.
  • Develop materials that communicate the intent and importance of the program.
  • Address concerns from internal and external stakeholders about practices related to sustainability and climate change.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects focused on integration and program delivery of sustainability and climate change activities throughout an organization.
  • Represent the organization exploring or highlighting topics relevant to sustainability and climate change response.
  • Monitor all phases of priority setting to ensure timely and effective completion of program objectives.
  • Develop plans and proposals to respond to complex, and emerging issues related to climate change.
  • Collaborate with appropriate staff to identify problem areas and make recommendations to resolve program issues.
  • Participate in appropriate forums to represent and learn about best practices regarding sustainability and climate change for possible application.
  • Promote studies and the development of data to help identify high potential program delivery areas.
  • Provide specialized and professional guidance, on the integration and program delivery of sustainability and climate change activities at the programmatic or field level.
  • Coordinate and/or lead the development, implementation to meet the management goals and priorities of the project.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of sustainability and climate change goals in support of an organization mission.

Basic Requirement:
GS-0401-12:
Degree: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the
position.
OR
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major field of study that included 24 semester hours in course work in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines
appropriate to the position. Related course work generally refers to courses that may be accepted as part of the program major.
OR
Combination of education and experience that included 24 semester hours in course work in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, AND experience sufficient to demonstrate that I possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform work in the occupation that is comparable to that normally
acquired through the successful completion of a full 4-year course of study with a major in the appropriate field needed to perform the work of the occupation.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must also possess experience and/or directly related education in the amounts listed below.

Specialized Experience Requirement:

For the GS-12: You must have one-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as performing ALL of the following:

  • Writing, preparing, and evaluating formal and informal correspondence, reports, statistics, and analytical documents for senior level officials.
  • Coordinating a variety of administrative projects and providing expert analytical and technical advice and recommendations on matters pertaining to organizational processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Developing fact sheets, position statements, web and social media content, to be presented to diverse audiences as required to support the program.
  • Developing and maintaining working relationships with research institutions, representatives, or other program delivery partners to address critical, emerging issues, and accomplish climate-related program priorities.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience.

This evaluation is based on the level of your experience, education, and/or training as determined by your responses to the Assessment Questionnaire.
