Serves as a Supervisory Grants Management Specialist located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Policy Office (PO).
Oversees the comprehensive management and evaluation of criminal justice and forensic grant programs, ensuring compliance with funding requirements, and maximizing the impact of investments through expert guidance and strategic planning.
Oversees and manages DNA analysis and interpretation efforts related to criminal justice grants and initiatives within BJA and other related programs.
Reviews grant applications, provides actionable recommendations to decision-makers, negotiates technical elements of agreements, and fosters relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance program effectiveness and address emerging needs in criminal justice and forensic fields.
Serves as a subject matter expert during peer review processes, conducts internal evaluations of competitive applications, and compiles recommended lists of grantees.
Evaluates and recommends action to decision makers on concept papers, abstracts, applications for funding, and related matters to support assessment of compliance with grant program requirements, relevance to issues and priorities, and possible contribution to the adoption of evidence-based practices and overall knowledge in criminal justice and forensic fields.
Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Develops and/or reviews grant materials, including notices of funding opportunities, strategic plans, and budget recommendations, to ensure accuracy, clarity and effectiveness in the use of DNA analysis and interpretation for criminal justice and forensic grantmaking purposes.
Provides expert guidance on the impact of DNA analysis and interpretation to agency officials and community organizations on strategies for criminal justice and forensic grant programs.
Reviews grant applications and progress reports to ensure that proposed DNA analysis techniques and protocols meet required standards.
