Duties

Help

The Director of Institutional Research and Assessment is responsible for developing, leading, and managing a comprehensive institutional research and assessment program at the college level. As the program lead for institutional research, assessment and accreditation, he or she provides direction for data governance strategies and policies, assessment policies and practices, accreditation compliance and institutional reporting. More specifically, the Director will:

Institutional Research

  1. Contribute to the management of the program for data analytics;
  2. Develop and improve institutional analytical capabilities, including providing technical guidance on analytic methods and tools;
  3. Support institutional assessment of NUD's effectiveness in attaining strategic objectives;
  4. Ensure accurate and timely reporting to fulfill regulatory requirements;
  5. Summarize, present and report highly complex data and results appropriate to audience and purpose;
  6. Maintain currency in best practices in institutional research; and
  7. Routinely provide technical and research expertise to others.
Assessment
  1. Support institutional assessment of NDU's effectiveness in attaining learning outcomes;
  2. Develop and execute assessment policies and coordinate assessment activities within a program and across the university, including data collection, analysis, and reporting;
  3. Develop and implement assessment plans in collaboration with faculty and leadership to measure and ensure achievement of Program Learning Outcomes;
  4. Summarize, present and report highly complex assessment data results appropriate to audience and purpose;
  5. Contribute to curriculum development by assisting faculty and leadership in developing/identifying learning outcomes, selecting and developing assessment techniques, designing and developing rubrics, collecting and analyzing data, and using results to make curricular improvements;
  6. Maintain currency in best practices in assessment (direct and indirect); and support faculty/curriculum developers as the lead expert for developing rubrics to effectively measure achievement of Program Learning Outcomes;
  7. Routinely provide technical and assessment/evaluation guidance and expertise to others.
Accreditation
  1. Serve as the program accreditation expert, routinely providing expertise in accreditation standards, practices and procedures to others;
  2. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards;
  3. Ensure accurate and timely reporting for accreditation requirements; and
Professionalism
  1. Engage as a member of the professional community by taking leadership roles within professional organizations, participating on accreditation teams, and/or reviewing scholarly work for presentation or publication; and
  2. Serve as a role model and mentor to institutional research staff and the wider professional community.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university in educational methodology, educational measurement, higher education administration, information systems, applied statistics or related discipline required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in assessment planning and implementation, data analysis, and reporting experience in an academic environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of institutional research and assessment principles and techniques and skill in their application.
  • Expert knowledge and application of higher education and assessment theory.
  • Record of independent analytic writing, research and engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience with institutional and program accreditation procedures and preparation of self-studies.
  • Aptitude for collaboration within and across all areas of the institutional organization, and the ability to develop relationships and coordinate with leaders across government and industry.
  • Demonstrated experience consulting with faculty and higher education leadership to facilitate curriculum development, strategic planning, and evidence-based decision making.
  • Demonstrated expertise in student assessment and development of rubrics.
Desired Qualifications.
  • Terminal degree from an accredited college or university in educational methodology, educational measurement, higher education administration, information systems, applied statistics or related discipline.
  • Knowledge and application of education and assessment theory as applied to JPME.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching at the graduate level, preparing and delivering lectures and seminar instruction.

Education

Education Requirement: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in educational methodology, educational measurement, higher education administration, information systems, applied statistics or related discipline required.

Official Transcripts: Official transcripts are not required at the time of application; however, if the position has a positive degree requirement, qualifying based on education alone or in combination with experience, transcripts must be verified PRIOR to appointment, if selected for the role.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in a conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence PRIOR to appointment.

    • Qualifying education from colleges and universities in foreign countries must be evaluated in terms of equivalency to that acquired in U.S. colleges and universities. Applicants educated in whole or in part in foreign countries must submit sufficient evidence, including transcripts, to an accredited private organization for an equivalency evaluation of course work and degree. You must provide a copy of the letter containing the results of the equivalency evaluation upon request. Failure to provide such documentation when requested will result in lost consideration.

Background or Security Investigation: This is a Non-critical Sensitive position which requires a background investigation. The individual selected for this position is required to obtain and maintain a Secret security determination to occupy a Non-critical Sensitive position within the agency as a condition of employment.

Initial Probationary Period: You will be required to serve an initial probationary period of 18 months.
