Duties

Help

  • Serve as Grants Management Specialist with responsibility for programmatic and fiscal oversight, planning, development, implementation, and assessment of grant programs that support state, local, and tribal justice strategies to achieve safer communities and address chronic and emerging criminal justice challenges nationwide.
  • Identify, address problem areas, and evaluate ongoing functions to ensure intended grant program goals are met.
  • Manage pre-award coordination for grant solicitations, assess applications for complex discretionary and formula grants or cooperative agreements.
  • Manage administration of a diverse range of complex grants and cooperative agreements, ensure timely submission of reports and deliverables.
  • Serve as a technical expert in compliance monitoring for complex grants and conducting in-depth assessments to ensure adherence to financial and legal terms.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: GS-12

Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Examples of specialized experience include:

  • Experience assisting with implementing and managing grant programs to include the laws, regulations, rules, policies, and procedures for the administration of Federal grants and cooperative agreements;
  • Assisting with formulating guidelines, implementing new developments, and providing policy interpretation for grant programs;
  • Evaluating and monitoring grants programs or cooperative agreements.

Technical Qualifications:
Applicants who meet the basic entry and minimum qualification requirements, as described above, will be further evaluated on the following technical qualifications:

  • Ability to apply analytical methods and techniques in the identification and resolution of grant and/or cooperative agreement administration issues.
  • Ability to communicate in writing.
  • Ability to communicate orally
  • Ability to execute work (GS-12 only)
  • Ability to plan and execute work (GS-13 only)
  • Knowledge of grant and cooperative agreement program management principles, concepts, methods, processes, and techniques consistent with sound business and industry practices.
  • Knowledge of the laws, regulations, rules, policies, procedures, and methods governing Federal grants and/or cooperative agreements, and awards.

  • This position has a duty station of Washington, D.C. The selectee will be required to physically report to the OJP office building at least four (4) days per bi-weekly pay period and may incorporate leave and official travel plans into this reporting requirement. The office director or supervisor may request the selectee's presence in the office more frequently, as determined by the needs of the office. The selectee will be responsible for covering all commuting-related travel expenses. OJP employees are eligible for one transportation benefit - parking or the Department of Justice (DOJ) transit subsidy.
