Duties

Help
  • You will operate commercial-type laundry washers, extractors, tumblers, or conditioners.
  • You will load, unload, and operate controls of machines to wash, dye, starch, roughdry, or condition items for pressing.
  • You will rotate machine duty, washers or dryers, on a basis determined by the shift leader.
  • You will weigh baskets on an industrial scale, annotating, and documenting the weight.
  • You will examine items to be processed by type/classification group, and size of load,
  • You will select the appropriate machine, control settings, and cleaning agents/chemicals.
  • You will determine and select the appropriate dryer settings.
  • You will document all loads processed on daily production record to include identification of unit, weight, time started and time completed.
  • You will perform preventative maintenance of equipment and report problems, malfunctions, and/or unsafe working conditions.
  • You will comply with all established safety procedures.

  • This position may require you to perform rotating shift work.
  • You may be required to work overtime.
  • You will be working in a building which is cold and damp in the wintertime and hot in the summertime.
  • You will be required to stand on a concrete floor for 8 hours per day.

The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to perform the duties of a Laundry Machine Operator as demonstrated by experience working under close supervision following set procedures to operate laundry machine equipment performing the following:
1) Operating commercial-type laundry washers, extractors, tumblers, and/or conditioners.
2) Loading, unloading, and operating controls of machines to wash, dye, starch, roughdry, and/or condition items for pressing.
3) Assisting in examining items to be processed by type/classification group, and size of load,
4) Following established guidelines to select appropriate machine and dryer, control settings, and cleaning agents/chemicals.
5) Complying with established safety procedures
