Help
  • Utilize existing automated systems to determine contingency cargo volumes and characteristics, and booking requirements
  • Evaluate carriers for appropriate class-rate or commodity tariff needed considering item to be shipped and destination.
  • Utilize Microsoft Outlook to monitor emails and schedule meetings to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Initiate bill of lading process to provide shipment documents to carriers.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain Transportation of Hazardous Material Certification within 18 months of occupying the position
  • This is a TERM position Not to Exceed 2 years. This appointment may be extended in increments of 2 years to a maximum of 8 years. Extensions are not guaranteed and are contingent upon budget and workload.
  • Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) Utilizing automated shipping/logistics systems to move material; 2) Reviewing documentation for accuracy; and 3) Maintaining records in automated system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work at the performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

  • THIS IS A TERM POSITION NOT TO EXCEED 2 YEARS. THIS APPOINTMENT MAY BE EXTENDED IN INCREMENTS OF 2 YEARS TO A MAXIMUM OF 8 YEARS. EXTENSIONS ARE NOT GUARANTEED AND ARE CONTINGENT UPON BUDGET AND WORKLOAD REQUIREMENTS.
