About the position: This position will be assigned to the Fitness Center located on Patrick SFB, FL. This position includes the opportunity to enroll in Health and Life Insurance, 401K and Retirement, Annual and Sick Leave.

This position requires shift work to provide coverage on days, evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Scheduled hours will be a minimum of 35 hours per week. Must be able to life objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Duties

Help

Works under the general supervision of the Fitness and Sports Manager (FASM) to execute the Patrick SFB and Cape Canaveral SFS intramural, extramural and varsity, Sports Advisory Council (SAC), Commander's Cup, and Athlete of the Year programs. Plans, organizes, equips and manages a comprehensive sports program in compliance with DAFI34-114 and other relevant DoD, DAF and local guidance. Develops continuity binders to maintain records of required documentation. Develops sports bylaws and provides supervision of sports events as needed or directed. Prepares and coordinates all program correspondence to include, but not limited to, letters of intent, team rosters, coaches meetings, league schedules, and detailed after action reports. Monitors player eligibility. Develops an annual strategic plan of operation and robust event calendar. Works with the FSS Marketing Director to aggressively publicize events in various media outlets for maximum awareness and participation, secure promotional sponsorship and advertising, and conduct ongoing surveillance of the eligible customer population to assess the demand, effectiveness and customer satisfaction of the programs offered. Works with the Community Services Flight and Youth Center to conduct relevant extramural and joint programs, and activities that can be offered through the R4R and Unite programs. Actively supports and participates in basewide events. Performs appointed facility manager duties to include conducting year-round weekly inspections of athletic fields and facilities; submitting and tracking work orders until discrepancies are corrected, monitoring repair and improvement projects, and coordinating pre-season facility inspections with the SLD 45 safety office. Performs field preparation actions to include, but not limited to, clay replenishment, lining and equipment placement. Manages the sports officials contract to ensure the statement of work and budget is maintained. Manages and accounts for the sports equipment inventory. Provides budget inputs to the FASM for annual operations and maintenance and unfunded requirements, and nonappropriated fund (NAF)-authorized expenditures. Prepares project and purchase documents. Assists in setting up facilities and equipment for all fitness programs and special functions at both fitness centers. May serve as the manager in charge in the absence of both activity managers. Performs customer service desk attendant duties when directed and/or scheduled and other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Qualifying Experience:

Must have experience that provided a working familiarity with the procedures followed in sports activities and programs. A 4-year degree in a sports/recreation or related field, or equivalent specialized work experience is desired. Must possess American Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR/AED/First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogen/Biohazard Spill certifications or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire. Must have knowledge of nationally-recognized certifying body of rules and regulations. Competent experience with Microsoft Office software is desired. Work requires frequent physical exertion and incumbent must be able to frequently walk, bend, stoop and lift objects up to 50 pounds unassisted and successfully pass a pre-employment physical exam. Must be able read, write and speak English fluently and communicate effectively with patrons and coworkers. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries. Must be available to work nights, weekends and Holidays as required.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
